The Problem With NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy
The High-Stakes Battle Behind DGM Racing’s Atlanta Motor Speedway – NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy
DGM Racing heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway
After a bumpy Daytona for both Ryan Ellis and Josh Bilicki, this week DGM Racing heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway they did not expect NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy. Another track that is known for chaos. Known for iconic finishes and memories. But most importantly, Known for that Atlanta speed drop in as we get an inside look of DGM racing, who is proudly sponsored by drive smart drivers, Brian Ellis, Josh Bilicki, and CJ McLaughlin will be putting it all on the table at Atlanta motor speedway.
So I’m here with Josh Bilicki.
And we’re gonna talk about NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy, and we’re gonna talk about the crash last week. So what happened coming to pit road? Uh, well we got ran into by a car going about 100 miles per hour faster than us. Uh, luckily it didn’t do any damage. The driver and I did talk, we’re all good. Um, just a major mistake on his end.
So today’s simple, all we gotta do is get through tech and qualify the car. So we gotta get the number 92 car into the race this week with no rain in the forecast. I don’t think that will be a problem. So man, qualifying tech simple day ahead for Atlanta Motor Speedway. The real show is gonna be tomorrow.
Alright, what are we doing here? We are installing the heads on the gas cans and it’s so cold down here that.
It’s Happening at Atlanta Home Speedway
Is so stiff that it’s really hard to get it on. It was real easy to put ’em on in Florida because we had really good weather. But down here it’s cold and it’s stiff. But the open plan isn’t recommended exactly, because my man’s got a heat gun and we’re gonna make this work so we can fuel those three race cars during the off season before this season’s.
Josh Bilicki and Ryan Ellis both became fathers. Well, DGM Racing had a little surprise package for our drivers. Aw, that’s cute. That is really cute.
Aw, my wife is gonna love that.
Exploring Atlanta Motor Speedway: History, Memorabilia, and Racing Moments

Thank you. That is so cute. Dude, it’s crazy cause like Each color is a different size. Oh, that’s awesome. They’ll be good for a year. Yeah. Yeah. Who’s that? Atlanta Motor Speedway has a lot of history at it. Whether if that’s Richard Petty running his final race, or Jeff Gordon running his first race. We have the closest finish of all time that came at this very racetrack last year.
Now if you know me, you know I’m stopping by the gift shop behind me. Now I want to get something from every track this year. I did find this classic NASCAR shirt, and I’m absolutely digging it. Thank you. Atlanta is known for peaches, so I This would be a pretty good little go to here, and also, it’ll go with my Daytona collection.
I’m gonna go with this cool little magnet here from Atlanta, but the cool thing about Atlanta Motor Speedway, this is the only track with a Richard Petty statue, as you can see behind me. This was put here in 1992 to honor Richard Petty’s career when he called it quits and finally retired. This is a big opportunity for CJ McLaughlin who missed last week’s race.
The Pressure is Mounting
He knows he has to get it done under pressure in order to race. Tomorrow night just like that. It’s time for qualifying. These cars are finally hitting the track We’re gonna get all three cars in the race here today. So that’s super hyped up and man It’s this time to see what kind of speed we can actually show off with these cars All
right parker set me up here leaving the pits, what are we doing? Well, this place is interesting because you just get this one lap. So one of the tougher things is literally in your wheel You don’t even get that chance to move the car. So you try to do that as you’re going on the road side going on the road side. Sometimes you get it right, sometimes you don’t.
The Pressure is Mounting: Qualifying Night Challenges and Opportunities
For CJ here, I hope he got it right. He’s first up to the top of the track, thankfully. We had trucks earlier which sort of cleaned the track off because although this place is flat out, fairly easy by yourself in qualifying, when you come to the green up there, in three and four up next to the wall, and it’s dusty and dirty, you can literally feel the car sliding around.
Yeah, and that’s not bad for CJ last week. He tried to qualify, the rain came, he wasn’t able to make the race. Hopefully he’s going to have enough today to lock himself into the race and be a part of this. You know, the bad news is, is last week we had 41 cars there. So only the 38 here will, uh, you know, get him in for tomorrow afternoon.
71 of Ryan Ellis, looking for his first career top 10. And there was a period last week where I’m like It’s gonna happen today. It looked like it. He was on the bottom in the top 10. He looked like he was in a great position. It just didn’t quite pan out. But for Ryan Ellis, this could be another opportunity here tomorrow.
That Top 10 is a Reality
He could get that top 10 final. It’s another drafting style track.
Just like, uh, Josh Bilicki sponsor there, by the way. I don’t know why, but I thought that name was kind of cool. Do you want to say it 10 times? I wanted to say it really badly on air.

CJ McLaughlin, looking better this week. No rain. We’re in the race and you got one fast hot rod for tomorrow. Walk me through it. What are the emotions right now after the huge letdown at Daytona? Uh, emotions are great. I think, uh, I don’t know where we qualify, but it was really good. Had a great lap and we would have qualified in on speed at Daytona if that rain didn’t come through.
So like, that was such a bittersweet moment. Like we had a fast lap, good car, and then the frigging rain came through. Uh, this weekend, 38 cars, we had a fast lap and we’re going to go for the race. So now it’s going to be about executing for tomorrow. What’s the expectations for tomorrow and what goals do you have for yourself?
Absolutely. And what does it mean to you and your sponsors to be able to get the car on the show and be able to finally see what you can do, where you can go and display your talent over at DGM? So we have 150 Main Street customers, employees here. They’re going to brave the cold weather. Um, that means a ton to me.
High Expectations
Um, high end expectations, top 10. Um, I’d be happy with the top 20. Uh, just race clean, stay off the wall, uh, avoid students. Speeding on Pit Road, you know, with our extended Pit Road starting at basically turn three, going around the apron to, uh, to the regular Pit Road is like important to make sure we don’t mess up there.
You know, it’s, it’s so amazing that a company like them love NASCAR and support me. You know, like I wouldn’t be here without them. So very, very appreciative of them. Um, I hope we put on a great performance for them and they can’t wait to come back for the dream race here at Atlanta. Absolutely. Good luck tomorrow at Atlanta.
Thanks man. Appreciate you. So that’s a wrap from Qualifying, and man that 92 has some speed in it. That car has some horsepower. I’m looking forward to see what CJ can do tomorrow night. But I’m just happy Qualifying is wrapped, and that’s it for Friday. On to the race tomorrow. It’s a It’s officially race day from Atlanta Motor Speedway.
Here we are, Atlanta Motor Speedway, race day morning, it’s go time. You’re probably wondering how last night went, well, the team all headed over to Outback. Every time we get a new driver or new team member, they gotta get inaugurated and how we do that is, well, we tell whatever restaurant we’re going to that it’s their 21st birthday and today, it’s Ryan Ellis turn.

Auto Club. So it’s race day from Atlanta Motor Speedway. I feel like we got a realistic shot to win this baby. Any of our three cars can pull off a top ten. Atlanta’s gonna be fun. We got the race coming up. It’s gonna be an exciting day. We’re gonna head down to the midway and see what the fans are up to, and then later on, hit the campground. Enjoy!
So the fan zone from Atlanta has everything from a dog show, old classic race cars, live music, and even all but an almost fair at this point. This is one of the best fan zones in NASCAR. I
never thought at a NASCAR race, but that’s the Atlanta Motor Speedway for you guys.
So the cool thing about my merch at a NASCAR race is they are behind me. haulers. Basically a full on semi truck will pull these things to the races, and then from there you can go buy your favorite merch, die cast cars, hoodies, jackets, shirts, whatever you need, they have it all. Get off! I’m
Still Ripping it in Atlanta
NASCAR guys. Go fast! Turn left! So where’s the Atlanta 40’s at? Uh, infield, turn three and four. I’m gonna head there right now. On top of the bus. I’m headed there right now. On top of the bus? On top of the bus. What bus? I’ll head there. Green, school bus. Shoot! And take, baby! By the garage down here. I’ll be there.
I’ll tell them you sent me. Them guys were nuts. Oh my gosh. All right. Well they party different in Georgia. That’s what we’re learning. This is like almost talladega tier partying before the race.
Oh my goodness. So this is apparently best seat in the house in NASCAR. You can see the track behind me. Cars are going to fly by 200 miles per hour. And they’re going to all crash and need a tow, aren’t they? You’re going to get a big stack up right here. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. It’s going Who drives that? Me. You drive that.
I’ve been seeing you all weekend drive that thing around. It’s incredible. What inspired you to make this truck? That was one of Dale Senior’s cars he only raced one time. So, tell me how you built this thing. Uh, I’m curious to know how you build it. Uh, my grandpa built it actually. He’s down there in the pen.
Built for NASCAR: A Lifetime of Racing and Infield Memories
It drives like this. You can just drive this thing from your home on over. It rails down and just drives. So you got this custom made just for NASCAR. I love that. I love that. Just for NASCAR. That’s We’ve been coming for years and years and years and years. We’ve been going here the entire time. Oh my When’s the first time you came here?
We came 1990. I’ve missed two races. 1990! A lot has changed since then, huh? You know what I’m with. The NASCAR infields never, ever, ever get old. Everyone’s always so welcoming to me. I appreciate it. Much love to all the NASCAR fans out there. But now it’s time to get on with the NASCAR Xfinity Series race.
First Flag NASCAR of the Day
The green flag is waving at Atlanta Motor Speedway. But look out, because just on lap number six, the first yellow flag of the day will fly, as NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy begins. As we go back green flag racing, the DGM drivers have a game plan. They’re sticking together to work their way to the front. Chad might have a better view, but it feels like I’m literally, like, running over CJ into the corner, um, a little bit, and then obviously pulls me off a little bit, so.

I think we’re better handling wise with the three in front of us. Uh, probably just don’t have the speed off the corner. I kind of run him down by two car lengths on corner entry. Three is secure, just a three and four. Like, when I was touching up behind somebody, I think I was, like, the right rear was dancing around loose on me, just a little bit there.
And I was just dancing a little bit, you know. It’s okay, but Trying to communicate what’s going on. Just a little bit free on that tree. Not bad. Like I feel like the right rear G and then a little snug in the center of green four. I can put more wheel in and get it turned. So I mean, it’s not terrible. I think we’re okay right now.
Just a, a tear off, please. The race will go green to the end of stage number one. This is where the DGM drivers will find theirselves in the 23rd. 24th and 25th positions. It’s now time for the first pit stop of the day.
We’re Back Under Green
We are back under green. The plan Stays the same. Watch as the DGM cars are positioning themselves for a late race charge. Watch out! Number 92, CJ McLaughlin, blows a tire going into turn number one. Hope he doesn’t have to get a tow. As we’re down to the final stage, with 50 laps remaining, both Ryan Ellis and Josh Bilicki has positioned themselves.
So all day for this very moment, they know things are about to get wild and pop up at any time. With 47 laps remaining, watch out. We have a big stack up on the back straight away. But that wasn’t it. Because with 38 laps remaining, we had yet again, another crash. With 32 laps left, the green flag waves once again. Leading to NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy.
Ryan Ellis has cracked the top 20 middle of your screen 71 is Ryan Ellis looking for his first career top 10 finish the driver from Virginia, Very similar to Daytona. Didn’t talk a lot about him towards the end of the race. We saw him up front. Didn’t get the finish he wanted, but ran really well at the end of Daytona.
Thrilling Late-Race Action at Atlanta: Ryan Ellis’ Charge, Crashes, and NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy
He’s actually in a great position. He’s basically the 5th car on the bottom. That would get him to the top 10 if it starts to form up side by side and that bottom lane starts to move. Great moves late in the race by Ryan. Ryan is charging hard. Now approaching the top 15. Huge crash with 22 laps remaining.
Back to racing—14 laps remain as the green flag returns. Laps are winding down, Ryan Ellis has found his way all the way to 14th. The white flag waves—just one lap to go! But watch out, there’s a big crash on the back straight away. This crash will take out many competitors, including Josh Bilicki . The race will stay green as they race back to the checkered flag. This all leads to NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy
Ryan Ellis checked up for the crash, and because of that, he lost all of his valuable positions. Falling all the way to 18th. There’s no way that should have stayed green there. I don’t understand this officially. I just unplugged my radio, but great job guys. The 91 car is destroyed. Yeah, four kills. I can’t even move the steering wheel.
Sorry guys. First train to weigh a cap off, Atlanta. If the yellow flag would have waved, Ryan Ellis would have finished in position number 11 , thus shows why everyone is talking about NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case, and, uh, it was trouble there at the end. I believe the 91 of Josh Bilicki was involved in that crash, so that really sucks to kinda Get that one hit as well and obviously trouble with the 92 car.
Bumpy Day in Atlanta and NASCAR’s Yellow Flag Controversy
J. McLaughlin. Bumpy day here in Atlanta, but on the bright side, Ryan Ellis still got a top 20, P19 out of that one. Ugh, but the day we had, I’ll take it. The other two cars Heartbroken, but next week we do got CODA, Circuit of the Americas. Josh Bilicki is a pro road driver.
He’s gonna have speed in that race no matter what. I know Ryan, we talked to him earlier. He’s excited about road course racing. So till then, we’ll catch you in that one. So many things I want to say.
